18 Aug Freedom—The Underappreciated Gift
Do you have the same traits found in the most successful individuals? They . . .
o Think for Themselves
o Follow their own path, not a path someone has chosen for them.
o Relentlessly innovate in all aspects of life and profession.
o Set big, bold and audacious goals and never worry what others think.
o Are action oriented and unconstrained by convention and peer pressure.
o Are persistent and keep trying until they achieve their goals.
If you can answer yes to even a few of these, then you are on your way to creating a life of freedom that no one can take away from you. If not, then perhaps it’s time to consider walking a different walk.
Freedom is Underappreciated
Many of us feel that we have the right to be free, and yet our actions do not support that belief. Unlike the most successful person outlined above, some of us may be struggling with following our own path. After all, we were taught not to rock the boat. Or perhaps you want to set that big goal, only to tame it down into something more “achievable.”
The reality for many of us is that we want the freedom of being our own person, being as successful as we know we can be, and yet…
If you answered yes to most of the questions above, that’s great. Now see if you follow the best practices highly successful people use to maintain their free will?
o They never see themselves as victims—even when they are.
o They avoid handouts and the trap of being beholden to benefactors or government.
o They manage finances and relationships very carefully.
o They learn to deal positively with fear and uncertainty.
o They see failure as an opportunity to try again more intelligently.
o Even in the most dire physical environment or condition, they keep their mind always free.
Do you see yourself in any of these? Perhaps some ring true and others need some work. Wherever you are in this journey, there is a way to achieve more, live bigger and perform better. All you have to do is be open to the idea.
Give Yourself a Gift
The freedom that successful people acquire does not happen overnight. It’s a process, which is why you first have to decide it’s something you really want. Then you simply must find a way to ensure that you can overcome obstacles that will be thrown in your way. It’s through this system that you will learn how to see failure differently – as a gift of it’s own to teach you how to manage more intelligently the next time. You will also find a way to achieve all your goals. Frankly, it’s this very system that has helped me achieve the goals and accolades I have in my own career.
By dedicating to a process to create a culture of excellence, you can be just as successful as those you admire. It takes focus, free will, and a desire to live to the extreme! Here’s to your journey to success!
